Hand Lettering and Embroidery

I've recently (that is today :) been studying hand lettering and began to think of embroidery and this post from Mary Corbet (whose work is incredible).

Here is a little sample of when I was messing around with the "Fruit of the Spirit" after viewing her work,

I'm not sure why I never did the embroidery, but I always have a ton of projects.  In fact I was joking with a friend at church about having so many outfits that she has started to sew and I haven't seen one of them.  Her daughter perked up and asked me how many unfinished projects I have.  Well.....

I find it all inspiring.  Below is a little sketch that I want to paint on the window in my sewing room.  I'll play with it some more before I do it.  I don't want it to be too big or obtrusive, but to catch the eye and remind me to ...

(This isn't for a cliche' or to make light the things of God,
but I do these things because they mean something to me.
My relationship with the Lord is real and ever present.)

Arts in Texas

Two weeks ago we went to Homestead Heritage in Elm Mott, Texas. We do not agree with their religious beliefs. We were able to see a few demonstrations. Pottery, Ironwork and a little Weaving. They are excellent craftsmen.

These pictures are all backward so please start from the bottom and work your way up.

Ostrich Costume

Taylor as Omelet Ostrich

I sewed feathers onto an old t-shirt of little Greg's.

I got the feathers from Hobby Lobby and used my Walking Foot
to keep the feathers from shifting to much or the t-shirt from stretching.

For the neck and sleeves I used white feather boas (also from Hobby Lobby).
I sewed the top neck boa, but the others I used liquid stitch.
It really worked well. I was running out of time and it came in handy.
I also used the liquid stitch for the fill in feathers on the arm. The boa itself was
not quite enough and gluing the feathers in between worked out well.

Now, what do I do with an Ostrich costume?!

New Side Link

For several months now I thought I had labeled my embroidery templates so people could find them only to find out yesterday that I had not. Sooo... now there is a link in the side bar now labeled "Free KJV Embroidery Templates".

My husband bought me a Bamboo tablet for improving my computer art. I look forward to creating something new soon and making it available in my Etsy shop at a reasonable price.

I am reposting my little doodles to get a link for the side bar.

The house is blurry due to scanning issues. I off centered the verse on purpose. To change this print it out, cut and reposition on another sheet of paper.

My Little Art

One day I'd like to get out some nice art work with verses for embroidery. Until then I have done a little doodling and thought I'd share. I scanned this and put it together in publisher. I'm not totally happy with the out come but decided to post it anyways.
You will need to enlarge these a little.
